The opportunity

01 · CONTEXT

Morley Builders has provided construction services across Southern California since 1947, with over 175 professionals and 300 skilled tradespeople across offices in Santa Monica, Irvine, and San Diego.

Three locations carried limited and inconsistent Wi-Fi coverage: Radian Apartments in San Diego, Thatcher Yard in Los Angeles, and 200 Mesnager Street Apartments in Long Beach. The result was connectivity failures, dead zones, and slow performance that undermined productivity, communication, and user experience daily.

The existing infrastructure could not meet demand and needed replacing rather than patching.

The solution

02 · DELIVERY

Meraki MR45 access points and Meraki Go switches, placed against site-specific wireless surveys rather than floor plans alone.

PH 01

Survey and design

  • Wireless surveys conducted using Ekahau to map real coverage and interference
  • Site-specific configurations designed around building layout and user density
  • Detailed deployment plan produced ahead of mobilisation
PH 02

Access point deployment

  • Five Meraki MR45 access points installed and configured across the three locations
  • Licensing activated to ensure full platform functionality
PH 03

Switching and cabling

  • Three Meraki Go switches installed at critical locations
  • Four cable drops implemented to establish a robust physical network foundation
PH 04

Testing and quality assurance

  • Rigorous testing performed to verify the new network configuration
  • Potential issues identified and resolved before handover
PH 05

Training and ongoing support

  • User training sessions delivered to employees, residents, and site users
  • Ongoing support established to address concerns and technical issues promptly
  • Continuous monitoring and maintenance implemented for sustained performance

CLOSING NOTE

Wireless surveys before installation meant the access points went where the coverage gaps actually were, not where the floor plan suggested they might be.
